why does my water and ice dispenser on my refridgerator not work anymore?

i have a kenmore fridge thats about 4 years old. for some reason, my ice and water dispenser just stopped working. read through the troubleshooting section of the manual and cant seem to figure it out.

i havent messed with anything related to the fridge and the filter is still good.

any ideas?
id like to figure this out without having someone come to my house. i just dont wanna wait
even if the water supply was cut off, when i push the paddle for ice, shouldnt i hear the motor trying to turn?
filter was replaced several moths ago and the light is green. also not located on an outside wall

If your refrigerator has a child lock out function you might check that first. Otherwise it has to be something that is common to both the water and ice dispenser. In my Kenmore (much older) the power is supplied to the door switches by a switch located at the top of the freezer and operated by the door. There are two, one for the freezer light and the other for the door switches. If the light in the freezer is not working there may be a power supply problem to the switches. If the light is working the switch in the freezer may be defective or there may be an electrical connection problem between the switch in the freezer and the ones in the door. ...Good Luck...

There are counter top models or the floor models. Floor models are more popular as you might have seen in offices, stores or even in homes. You can choose from white, black or stainless steel water dispensers.

Water dispensers are also getting advanced with new added features.They have features to dispense the hot and cold water in a controlled manner. In the summers you can get chilled water from its cold water spigot. If you want to make that chilled water little bit less cold, add little hot water from the hot water spigot. If you want hot water instantly for making instant food like soup, tea or coffee, get hot water instantly from the hot water spigot.

All these water dispensers need electricity to run. They need to be plugged into an electrical source.To gather the excess water dripping from the spigots, there is a small drip tray. You need to dump that water occasionally.

While purchasing a water dispenser, take care of child safety features to avoid accidental burning due to hot water. Also, spigots are better than the push buttons. You can search online to know about various brands and models of water dispensers.
