Smart Water Filter

Smart Water Filter
Why does my guppy nip at the top of the water?

does anyone have experience as to why it would do that? I don't have the airpump/filter ready yet...is that why? it also sometimes scrapes itself on the gravel. it just looks weird...the water is clean...and it could be looking for food..and being cautious with gravel. I have no idea. it is not as smart at getting food at feeding time as usual and the other guppy eats it all. it does it though...could it have been sleeping...

I think I have to get the air pump working today at least. (long story).

I'm not overfeeding...i fed it mashed peas a day ago because i thought it was constipated - the one other guppy seems fine.

my temperature is 21˚C. It's not a dangerous temperature, but do I have to get a heater?

any advice or thoughts as to why it's nipping at the water? It has done it before a week ago when I didn't have airpump set up..but after i set it up, it stopped doing it...maybe it's the same thing (i've changed to a bigger tank)

THE SCRAPING:

Scraping itself on the gravel and on the sides of the tank suggests that it has a form of disease, usually known as ICH. These are little parrasites that cling onto your fish. The look like salt granualsm like the ones in this picture.

I suggest you get some treatment, as it can easily kill your fish and spread, by contaminating the water and reproducing on other living organisms.

NIPPING AT THE SURFACE:

This suggest very low oxygen levels, and fish hate this experience. That means it hates where it lives until you provide it with a pump/filter and a few airstones. You fish may even die.

Get a pump/filter and airstone emmidietly!

Good luck and if you have anymore questions or problems please e-mail me.
