How to repair a leaking bath shower lever water diverter?

I have a bath/shower mixer tap with a lever water diverter. When turned to 'shower' a bit of water leaks through the bath tap, which means lower water pressure for the shower. Is it possible to repair this myself? If so, how?

You have to buy a new bath tap with the diverter on it and screw off the old one and screw on the new one. It's very easy, just get the same thing you have on there now.

I am assuming your diverter is a pull up lever? If not, the procedure may be different.
