would working in the kitchen before becoming a chef be a good idea?

Im 17 and im still wondering if i really want to be a chef. Ive been taking nearly all the classes i can take in high school, i feel that im really determined but after all that when my sister asks me if i really want to be a chef im still bak where i started. I ask this because im pretty sure a classroom environment and a scorching hot kitchen are really different so wut do u guys think???

Yes this is a really great idea you can get the experience you need to become a chef and be used to the environment also if you wanted to apply to a restaurant you could add that you worked in a kitchen lets say 200 hr and say that i had the experience so ya it would be a great idea
