Brita Pur Water

Which counter water filter is better? Pur or Brita?

I want to buy a water filter for my counter and I cant choose between:

1) http://www.amazon.com/PUR-DS-1800Z-Stage-Water-Dispenser/dp/B0006MQCA4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1223952496&sr=8-2

2) http://www.amazon.com/Brita-35530-Ultramax-Dispenser/dp/B00009LHZH/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1223952021&sr=8-3

Which one would you choose? Have you ever had an experience with any of these products?

Thanks!!!!!!

My roommate and I have a Brita pitcher that fits inside the door on our fridge. It is conveniently sized and a nice shape to do so, and it does an excellent job keeping our water clean and delicious. The filters last for about three months, which isn't too bad, and there is an indicator that tells you when you need to change it. We are very satisfied with it, and I recommend you take a look at the Brita.

There are also many others if you just go to the Brita homepage.

Water Treatment System: Guiding You to the Right Choice

Water treatment systems make use of different water treatment methods to bring you clean and safe water. If you want to have the peace of mind in knowing that you and your family gets clean treated water, you should get a water treatment system and you need to choose wisely.

So how do you make that choice? Here’s how.

Do your research

The first thing to do before you choose a water treatment system is to gather information about your water source and what contaminants can be found in your water supply. If your water comes from your municipality supplier, you can get the information from the municipality’s water supply department. If you have your own water source, you can have your water supply tested. Just find a way to know exactly what you are in danger of so you can get custom-fit protection from these dangers.

Also, make sure you know what water treatment really is. It is different from water conditioning, which simply improves the taste, odor, and softness of water. Water treatment focuses on the health and safety of your water supply.

Gather possible options

Once you know what dangers you need protection from, gather information about the different types of water treatment methods. You can choose from sedimentation, oxidation, reverse osmosis, distillation, UV treatment, neutralization, chlorination, and activated carbon technology. In some cases, you will need more than one of these water treatment systems to fully resolve all the problems in your water, so you can combine any of these systems.

Decide where you want water treatment to occur

You then have to decide where you want water treatment to occur. It can happen either at point of entry or point of use. Point of entry means the water treatment system will be connected to your main water line, while point of use means the system will be mounted on water dispensing units such as showers and faucets. Water treatment products for both are widely available from some of the industry’s best brands.

Choose the brand

Then you have to choose the brand of water treatment system you prefer. This is important because there are certain brands that have become synonymous with good quality and reliable water treatment methods. Some brands are also easy to use and to maintain. Some top brands to check out include Brita, PUR, and Culligan, among several others.

Consider NSF certification

Before you make your final choice, check out whether the water treatment system you have in mind has NSF certification. According to NSF, interest in water treatment has grown significantly, and several products came out in the market. Unfortunately, not all worked effectively against water contaminants and not all provided reliable water treatment. So it is important to look for NSF certification when considering various water treatment systems. NSF runs various product testing programs that attest to the quality and effectiveness of water treatment systems, and a product that has met NSF standards will offer a higher level of protection and provide a good-quality service.
