Where does this contamination come from? Some of it actually comes from natural sources such as rock formations that find their way into our water supply. Some chemicals such as chlorine are actually placed into our water supply on purpose to kill off harmful bacteria. The problem is, chlorine can be very harmful to the human body and has been linked to certain cancers. This is why many people have turned to using a drinking water filter.

Other sources of water contamination include not getting rid of everyday items in your house such as cleaning solvents, paint, and motor oil in a proper manner. Then you have problem of industrial waste. Seems like everyday you read about some kind of accidental leakage or a large company using illegal methods to get rid of its waste. Pesticides are also another item that has found its way into our water supply.

Our local water treatment plants do try to do a good job in making sure our water is safe, but it’s next to impossible to get rid of all the contaminants. We are also faced with a dwindling supply of fresh pure water, so many cities have turned to using reclaimed water. Reclaimed water includes the waste that is flushed down your toilet, and then is chemically treated and used in our drinking water supply. Many people would like to use a drinking water filter, but don’t know where to start. There are many types and brands available. They most expensive is not always best. Same goes for the cheapest. Some drinking water filters are cheap and do a fair job, but they need replacement cartridges often, which can end up being more expensive in the long run than higher priced drinking water filters.

Some higher priced filters do a poor job but carry a high price tag just to make a profit for the promoter. Doing a little research when choosing a drinking water filter will not only improve your health, but will save you money in the longer term.

There are two main benefits for using a water filter with your bidet seat:  (1) it's better to use filtered water when cleaning your sensitive parts and, (2) it keeps the internal parts of your bidet seat free of sediment and impurities found in normal tap water.

Your bidet toilet seat works with a series of hoses, water reservoirs, and other parts where water runs through.  For example, your bidet routes water from the tap and through the internal water heating system, then out the spray outlet found at the tip of the wash nozzle.  It's important to keep this system clean and free of mineral build-up, and a bidet water filter helps achieve that.  A good comparison would be to look through an old pipe when a building is re-doing their plumbing.  Mineral build-up can be seen all over the inside walls of the pipe, and you wouldn't want the insides of your toilet bidet seat looking like that!

It goes without saying that there are definitely benefits of using clean, filtered water to clean yourself, particularly your private area.  You wouldn't want to expose one of the most sensitive parts of your body to particulates or bacteria.  And when considering how easy and inexpensive these water filters are to install, there really isn't a good reason to go without them.

Two types of bidet water filters are generally available, carbon filters and iodine filters.  Carbon filters work because of a chemical process called adsorption.  This is when the atomic charge of carbon frees particles and contaminants from their bond with water.  As water passes thru the carbon filter, these particles chemically attach to the carbon, leaving clean filtered water to pass through.

Then there is the iodine filter.  This type of filter works by adding a very small amount of iodine to the water as it passes thru the filter.  This process sterilizes the water.  Iodine is a common household item which is frequently used to treat scrapes and cuts.  Iodine works for this purpose because it's actually an antiseptic which kills bacteria.  This concept is similar to how iodine water filters work for your bidet toilet seat.

Installing a bidet water filter takes just minutes.  There's a water outlet behind your toilet, which is connected to your bidet seat through a hose.  This is the hose that supplies tap water to your bidet seat.  Bidet water filters are designed to be attached to this hose, as they have one male end and one female end.  To install, close the water shut-off on your water outlet.  Then unscrew the hose which connects to the water outlet, and attach the female end of the water filter directly on to the outlet.  Re-attach the hose to the other (male) end of the filter.  Open the water-shut off valve, and then look around the area of your toilet bidet seat to ensure there are no leaks.

It's recommended that you replace your bidet water filter every four to six months

There has been much discussion over the past few years about the quality of the water we drink and the effects that this may have on our health. Alkalizing water also acts as a conductor of electrochemical activity from cell to cell. On a daily basis you should consume between 3-4 liters of water with it having a ph in the range of 9-10. More thirst for water is developed, if you have hydrated your body properly. Food cravings are often the body's cry for water. You may have already aquired more of a thirst than had occured to you.

Water Ionisers

It is ionised water. (electrically improved) by running it over positive and negative electrodes. It separates the liquid from one into a part alkaline and a part acid. (70%) and acidic (30%). This is exceptionally beneficial as the alkaline water is then used for drinking, while the acidic water can be used on the outside of the body as it is proven to kill many types of bacteria.

The quality of ionised water is reputed to surpass water from any other source. For instance, ionised water is the only type of water that has a low surface tension which allows for greater absorption of water and nutrients into the body.

This is an incredibly useful benefit which is unique to this type of machine.

Reverse Osmosis Water Filters

Reverse Osmosis utilises a fine membrane to filter water - known as hyperfiltration. This makes the removal of, salts, sugars, bacteria, proteins, dyes, particles, and other harmful components possible.

A semi-permeable membrane is used in reverse osmosis. This allows the water to pass through whilst the contaminants are removed.

Reverse osmosis units can use between 2-3 gallons of water to make 1 gallon up to as much as 10 gallons of water or more, to make 1 gallon of pure water.

Water purified by reverse osmosis is less acidic than tap or bottled water.

So what type of water are you to drink? If you're reading this, most likely you've already concluded that city tap water is poison. Perhaps in a startling revelation you concluded that you didn't think it healthy to drink chlorinated, decomposed toilet paper. What?! You don't think drinking recycled water is safe? And you're fed up with lies about how safely water travels from toilet to tap? Now you've become such a radical health nut that you dare to complain about the four thousand or so carcinogens in that same water? Imagine that!

After reviewing the options for drinking water, the brilliant water researcher Dr. Patrick Flanagan concluded that distilled water was the best. He said that given a choice of the above waters, we would choose distilled water over cationic water. This is because it does not disturb the charge on colloids in the blood system.

Cationic refers to positive harmful ions found in most alternatives to tap water. Dr. Flanagan said the best water is distilled water to which high zeta colloids and anionic electrolytes have been added. In recent years, other researchers have developed water machines that convert the harmful positive charge to a negative anion. This is commonly referred to as ionized water.

Sounds pretty nifty, doesn't it? But, darn it! I'm still stuck on that image of 4000 or so carcinogens and drinking decomposed tampons mixed with toilet paper. I know, I know, the filters promise not to let any of that yuck get through while the machine zaps the water. It sort of reminds me of those electric mosquito zappers that pop and sizzle them! Yet I've seen some of the little buggers get through safely anyway.

I'm not against water ionizers, just the water that runs through them. Well, there you go, use well water. As long as there is no surface contamination by industrial and agricultural runoff, you're safe, right? My well is two hundred feet deep on top of a mountain. It's drilled through some mighty thick rock, too. Is it safe to drink? Not if inorganic particles hitchhike with it! So, how do you know if they do?

You simply distill the water. I may not understand all the dazzling words used to describe redox potential, ORP, molecular bond angles, etc., so you will have to forgive me for my common horse sense. The old tea kettle gets a heck of a lot of mineral encrustation on it simply by boiling water. My distiller gets a pile of it as well. Now you can identify it as, say, iron, or limestone (that's calcium), or copper, or one of the countless inorganic minerals.

Do you really want this stuff building up in your body, turning you into a statue? Recently, I read some expert who said it wasn't so. That you didn't accumulate these minerals. Ah! I got it, like eating fast foods doesn't make you fat? And why worry about those PCBs, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, and trihalomethanes? Oh yes, don't forget the mercury, it really doesn't accumulate in fish, oysters, and clams, or does it? I've heard all it takes is a broken thermometer of mercury to contaminate an entire lake. Do you really want to drink that stuff? I mean really? And what do you think your colon would look like if you sprinkled ready-mix concrete on your cereal every morning?

When I use the word inorganic, I mean a substance composed of matter other than plant or animal. As an example, a plant can extract inorganic iron from the ground, but you can't eat a nail. However, you can eat a plant and get organic iron. Your body will not accept dirt as food, so don't drink mineral water, as an example. Otherwise you might end up a dirt-bag!

So, a number of years ago, I bought one of those fancy water machines. Yep, it ionized and alkalized my water. It sure reduced the water molecule and made the water wetter. Bear in mind that when you reduce molecular size in any liquid, it will stain easier. Think of fresh carrot juice, or how stubborn a wine stain or grape juice stain is to get out of a tablecloth. But, it finally dawned on me, if I really wanted to load my body up with highly charged ions, I'd better be using my juicer more! Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not against ionized water, it's a great idea!

Yes, I still use my water ionizer and I fill up my distiller with it. And yes, I still get inorganic mineral buildup that needs to be cleaned from the distiller. I figure I can get all the natural organic minerals from my raw food diet. Pretty much like Dr. Norman Walker, the great proponent of distilled water, did.

If the folks who are against distilled water thought about it for a moment...They'd have to wonder why decades of drinking it didn't leach the minerals from the bones of the famous Paul Bragg, a distilled water advocate who met with untimely death surfing at around 100 years old. Or, in fact, how Norman Walker got around while reaching one hundred and seventeen years old. Maybe I'd better get to wondering why, after decades of drinking distilled water, it hasn't leached the calcium from my teeth. It's because the calcium in my teeth is organic, not inorganic.

Darn, now that I think about it, I haven't had an appointment to have a cavity filled for over twenty five years! If distilled water leaches minerals from the bones, why do tens of thousands of kidney dialysis patients show no effect? Yes, the dialysis machines use only distilled water! Remember, distilled water cannot leach, bones, blood, or tissue in only inorganic materials. According to Steve Meyerowitz, the author of Water-The Ultimate Cure, if you are worried about distilled water's naturally aggressive chelating ability [then] put something nourishing in it. A few grains of rice per gallon of water, for example, will stabilize the distilled water in minutes and add organic minerals to it. Now it is alive.

Also, you can check out some of Dr. Patrick Flanagan's discoveries that can make your distilled water as potent as the water that the long-lived Hunzacuts drink. Now that you think about it, consider their water comes from thousand-year-old glacial runoff.

Glacial ice is frozen distilled water! Dr. Theodore Baroody states in his book, Alkalize or Die, that if we don't drink enough distilled water, it will slow the lymph flow. It is the lymph fluid that transports acid waste products into general circulation and out of your body.

Does distilled water leach valuable minerals out of the body? Dr. Baroody states he has not found even one reputable source to support that. In his book he says, Only distilled water produces a completely negative ion reaction in the system. And negative ions are alkaline forming--tissue acid wastes, which lead to an unwholesome death, are positively charged. Distilled water, being negatively charged, draws to it the positively charged waste products and flushes them into the elimination channels.

If you want to really bolster and enhance your water, you'll find a plethora of products you can choose from. Personally, I haven't found a single one of them as good as old Doc Willard's catalyst-altered water. He was a true pioneer in water science. Yet his discovery was the definition of serendipitous. He was working on a way to clean out old depleted oil wells in Northern Alberta, Canada, when he stumbled on to nature's secret.

He found a way to make water so wet that it penetrates wax. The water molecule becomes so reduced in size and increased in its electrical potential that it can actually wet wax. This was a boon to the petroleum companies, since wells would build up a paraffin-like compound and plug the well. Doc Willard found his water would increase the absorption of nutrients in food. It speeded up the elimination of toxins and acid wastes, and provide extra electrons, thus acting as an extremely powerful antioxidant and free radical scavenger. You should bear in mind that once antioxidants (like vitamin C) give up their electrons, they become free radicals themselves.

Friend, I've got to say it loud and clear. There's only one real Willard water and lots of copycats! I drink the real thing. In, The Choice is Clear, Dr. Allen E. Banik writes that distilled water is the greatest solvent on earth and the only one that can be taken into the body without damage to the tissues. By its continued use, it is possible to dissolve inorganic minerals, acid crystals, and all the other waste products of the body without injuring tissues. Now if you're a senior citizen can you touch your thumb to your wrist, touch your toes, or do a full back bend? If not then you may need to get a water distiller and get some Willard water to leach those inorganic deposits out of those joints. Yes, distilled water is a universal solvent. It's sad a few naturopaths that opposed its use died so young! After all, it's simply about using common old horse sense! Yes, there's water, water everywhere, but only drink distilled, with Willard water in it.

Not very well.

The problem is temperature. To get the good alcohol from your fermented stuff (whatever it is, fruits, grains, etc.,) you need about 203 degrees.

This is because alcohol vaporizes at a lower temp than water. Water distillers crack on temps over 212 and recondense the steam, so, unless you have a temperature knob, all you're going to do is boil and recondense your mash, beer or wort.

There may also be a component problem. Are the guts of your distiller hardy enough to handle raw alcohol? Or are they likely to get brittle, leak or leach strange flavors into your would-be hooch?

A leak of nice, hot, high-proof alcohol vapors is an explosion and fire just waiting to happen.

Possible? Yes. Easy? No.
Oh! And illegal.

Water, Water Everywhere, but What Am I to Drink? is a post from: Water Filters

In today's world, it seems people choose water in bottles instead of water filters. Why is that and what seems to be driving people to water in plastic bottles? Everyone (except the bottlers) will be better off if people will filter their own water and take it with them.

The Readers Digest August 2011 issue has a quote by Pete Gleick, PhD and author of Bottled and Sold: The Story Behind Our Obsession with Bottled Water. Dr. Gleick says, "Sales of bottled water have skyrocketed from around a gallon per person per year in the early 1970s to over 30 gallons today." That is amazing yet it is mainly because we don't trust our water sources today.

If you do some basic searching on the Internet, you can turn up some reasons to go along with Dr. Gleick's remarks. If you look for "reasons to drink bottled water" most of the articles are why you should NOT drink bottled water. Yes, you should drink lots of water just not bottled water. Most of these sites are dedicated to the environment and individual's health. For example, the website Barefoot Runner's Life points out that, "Plastic bottled water contains a harmful chemical, BPA. Studies suggest that BPA mimics hormones. Exposure to BPA can cause a wide variety of health issues."

Another issue Dr. Gleick points out is, "we don't like the taste, and it's become easier to find bottles of water at the same time that it's become harder to find water fountains." It is true that you can buy bottled water in ever gas station and convenience store in America. At the same time, more and more public places do not have water fountains. The water is in a machine somewhere in the building.

On the website Spirit Directors International, there is an article titled "Eight Good Reasons NOT to Drink Bottled Water." In the eight reasons, they list that water is often not regulated, it contains contaminants, and that 90% of the cost of the water is making the bottle! So you really aren't paying for the water, you are paying for the bottle and you throw that away. Item no. "6. North Americans use over 28 billion plastic water bottles per year; over 80% of bottles end up in landfills."

One of the issues listed on the website Mother Nature Network is that of corporate ownership of water. This site lists 5 reasons not to drink bottled water and their no. 5 is, "In the documentary film Thirst, authors Alan Snitow and Deborah Kaufman demonstrated the rapid worldwide privatization of municipal water supplies, and the effect these purchases are having on local economies." This issue has even worked its way into fiction. The author Clive Cussler wrote one of his adventure novels called Blue Gold and this is exactly what is happening. We have to hope that some hero comes forth as they did in the book to save us. The bottled water industry is "an important component in their drive to commoditize what many feel is a basic human right: the access to safe and affordable water."

The simple answer that many of these sites recommend is to get a carbon water filter of some type and a stainless steel container. If you don't have a water filter pitcher, faucet water filters, countertop water filters, or under counter water filter, be sure to take the time to get one of these. They are relatively inexpensive and over time will pay you back in better health, fewer trips to a doctor, and less need for medication. For people who want or need to filter larger amounts of water you can buy under counter water filters or even a reverse osmosis water filter.
