Everpure Water Filters

When it comes to buying a water purifier for your home, there is a whole range of them available in the market today. Starting from those which are available at a low price of $30-$40 to those for which the price goes up to $800. Everpure water filters are one such $300-$800 ranged filters. Let's take these filters as an example to discuss if they are really worth it or are they simply burning a hole in your pocket?

The water supplied in our homes is full of contaminants and impurities like bacteria, viruses, cysts, lead, copper, arsenic, chlorine, pesticides, drugs etc. This water if consumed directly can lead to various health ailments. It is due to this fact that we need to depend on home water purification devices. Everpure water filters are one expensive brand in the market which are effective in removing most of the above mentioned contaminants.

But what these Everpure water filters fail to remove are the dangerous chlorine by-products. Chlorine has a property of reacting with organic pollutants in water and generating various toxic derivatives like chloroform and TTHMs (Total Trihalomethanes). Tell me, if you know that a water purifier is not able to remove such carcinogens, would you still like taking the risk of consuming such "filtered" water?

The basic model of Everpure water filters which lacks this capability of handling TTHMs is ranged anywhere in between $300 and $400. Do you really think it is worth a buy; when there are multi stage water purifiers already available at a much reasonable price. Not to forget that these multi stage filters are 99% effective for all types of contaminants including TTHMs and VOCs.

The advanced model of Everpure water filters is claimed (is still debatable) to have the ability to filter out all these tough contaminants as well. The reason why I took the liberty of calling it debatable is the fact that they are basically a combination of the basic filter and a reverse osmosis based filter. A reverse osmosis water filter is something which makes their advanced filter even worse than the basic ones. And to top this it is priced at a high $800.

The truth about what reverse osmosis can do to your drinking water is no more a secret. They actually strip off all essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, sodium, zinc etc from the water thereby making it de-mineralized. Consuming such water not only gives a flat taste but is very unhealthy too. It can also lead to multiple mineral deficiencies!

In brief, the market is flooded with many purifiers like Everpure water filters- they may be good but not the best value for your money. Why not do some research about multi stage water purifiers? They are effective, efficient and evenly priced. The decision is in your hands. Think twice and do not get carried away by any brand name.

We hear the word often and know in a general sense what it means - not drinking enough fluids so as to cause the body to become dehydrated. However, do we completely understand the symptoms, causes and treatments for this all-too-familiar malady?

MayoClinic.com describes dehydration as something that "occurs when you lose more fluid than you take in, and your body doesn't have enough water and other fluids to carry out its normal functions." The body needs a certain amount of fluid in order to operate or function normally. The longer the body experiences dehydration, the more severe it becomes. For many, however, dehydration is usually mild or moderate.

Typically, dehydration is associated with sickness, as when we suffer from vomiting or diarrhea or other flu-like symptoms. These symptoms cause the body to lose fluids while also, in many cases, preventing the body from adequately re-supplying those lost fluids.

In addition, dehydration can also occur after intense exercise or workouts, especially if sufficient fluid intake is not practiced.

To prevent dehydration while exercising, regular fluid intake is important before, during and after a workout. Hydrating before a workout helps the body to build up reserves, while hydrating during and after exercise helps replace fluids lost during exercise.

If dehydration is serious, individuals should call their doctor or go to an emergency room. Severe dehydration is characterized by extreme thirst, lack of sweating, little or no urination and rapid heartbeat, among other symptoms, according to MayoClinic.com.

Water or sports drinks are both good sources of fluids to prevent dehydration. Both help the body to rehydrate. Dehydration can become serious if sufficient attention is not paid to its symptoms and causes. It's important to stay in-tune with the body-knowing early on when symptoms appear and what to do to treat those symptoms.

Doulton Water Purifier

The water from your tap at home starts from a water treatment plant that purifies the water so that it will be safe for human consumption. However, how do you know that the water treatment plants are effectively removing the whole of those impurities that could hopefully not be harmful; maybe not now but further on down the line?

In case these levels are exceeded, the iron water filter can cart away the contaminants, but it may bring forth the life of the iron water filter to be shortened, and the contaminants may only be partially removed. All the same, the bad part is that the water we gather at our taps is not nearly as pure as we think it will be and often carries bacteria and diseases that can cause us serious illnesses therefore installing water filters is a necessity.

Whole house water purification systems are the most practical for homes with hard water or contaminates which irritate the skin because impurities such as lead take a time to dispel with most whole house units and are treated more conveniently using point of use or under the sink units.

It may be surprising to note that most drinking water filters are bought for reasons of aesthetics such as wanting greater tasting water that is free of odors. Besides bacteria and chemicals, there are additional minerals found in the water that flow through our pipes, in small doses, but they can rapidly add up to affect your kidneys and overall health.

Water Impurities
Water runs through pipes in order to arrive at our homes and will be reserved in tanks for days at a time before we use it, which causes the growth of bacteria and parasites; a chemical such as chlorine is deliberately introduced into the water to sterilize it in quantities that will not afflict you immediately, but may cause side effects in the long run. Most people use bottled drinking water at least occasionally and use water filters at home to make their water taste purer.

Water Filter Brands
The Brita water filter will cart away the impurities like chlorine, copper, lead, mercury, giardia and many other impurities.
The basic Aqua Pure water filter filters to 5 microns and allows a flow rate of 20-28 gallons each minute depending on existing water pressure. Popular Doulton water filter choices are the varieties which are installed under sinks; they have the ability to filter about one thousand gallons of water between filter changes. An Aquasana shower water filter will be able to eliminate chlorine including chloramines and additional contaminants like lead, iron oxide, hydrogen sulfide and sodium hypochlorite.

Water Filtering Methods
A ceramic water filter is a great apparatus for those at home to drink more water without resorting to the expense and inconvenience of bottled water.
A ceramic water filter will provide pure, healthy water for the whole family. One of the most common water filter system and probably the most worth the money nearly as well is charcoal that derives from coconut husk; charcoal guarantees to offer 95% pure water by removing impurities and toxins.
There are many, many more methods from reverse osmosis to home made water filters. Treat your family and yourself right, make an investment into a good quality water filtration system in the near future.

Commercial Water Filters

A new concern today that some water filter systems have not addressed is chloramines, a by-product of 9/11 when authorities began calling for more chlorine in water supplies to counter bio-terrorism. This additive is fast becoming a super-toxin threat in our water. Created by the combination of chlorine and ammonia, this powerful compound being added to most municipal water supplies is not only a serious threat to our health, but if not filtered out using a reverse osmosis water filter system prior to reaching interior plumbing, could cause an unrivaled corrosive capacity that homeowners have not had to contend with before.

Reverse Osmosis Water Filter Systems use pressurization through Reverse Osmosis membranes in home and commercial water filter systems to produce filtered water as essentially pure as distilled water. Reverse Osmosis filter systems provide the purest drinking water and the safest non-mineralized water for use in machinery and household and kitchen appliances. Reverse osmosis water filter systems can lengthen the life of kitchen appliances by filtering out chemicals that can clog or corrode met and plastic pipes and tubing downstream from the RO system.

Filtered water leaving most municipal water supply systems still contains some dissolved particles and other substances that can enter homes and businesses if not blocked by water filter systems. This became apparent recently when the evening news carried a report that one odd tap water sample tested positive for pharmaceutical and hormone residues. This sparked similar testing and also similar results in municipal water authorities across the country. When confused municipal water executives were then questioned as to how something like this could possibly have happened, it turned out it was quite simple. No one even expected that such a problem could have existed in municipal water, so routine tests being done on water supplies did not include a test to determine such residues.

Chloramines can slowly destroy water pipes in the basement and walls, and metal and plastic seals and tubing in kitchen appliances from ice maker water filters to the water filters in espresso machines. The dangers chloramines present may change the entire face of water filtration technology and purification systems in the future.

High chlorine levels after 9/11 manifested in residents complaining of irritated skin, hair, and lungs. Investigations unearthed bacteria forming bioshields in piping and resisting chlorine’s purification power, and brought out the fact that chlorine in water produces carcinogenic trihalomethanes (THMs). The only answer seemed to be combining chlorine and ammonia, creating chloramines. This allowed the use of much less chlorine and lowered the levels of THMs while still provided plenty of muscle against bacteria and bioterrorism threats.

Multi-stage Reverse Osmosis systems like the Watts Pure Water Filter System can filter out such dangerous corrosives and many other water-borne chemicals from reaching the drinking water of homes and business, protecting costly appliances like coffee machines. The Watts Pure Water Filter system can include a 5-micron sediment filter to trap sand and rust, a 5-micron carbon filter to catch chlorine and other substances that can affect taste, a 5-micron carbon pre-filter to block chlorine from entering the RO system, and the RO Membrane which completely removes dissolved solids such as sodium, perchlorate, chromium, arsenic, copper, and lead. The Watts Pure Water Filter system also removes infectious cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

A Reverse Osmosis GAC final filter is a final polishing filter used as the water leaves the storage tank on its way to the faucet. Pure Water filter systems are Reverse Osmosis filtering systems that provide pure, demineralized water to a home or business without the concern of corrosive chemicals, heavy metals, or pharmaceutical residues getting inside. Protect your home and protect yourself with the safest form of water filtration available, a Watts Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System.

Looking out for buying a water purifier? I am sure you must have heard about reverse osmosis water units. Read on to find out about the most basic component of these RO systems - the reverse osmosis membrane.

A reverse osmosis system is essentially made up of a thin, semi permeable, porous membrane. This reverse osmosis membrane has ultra-fine pores on its surface, the size of which basically determines what all things are going to be filtered.

When water is forced to pass through this membrane, it being smaller in molecular size, passes through the membrane and other contaminants being larger in size are blocked and hence separated out from the water.

This basically makes this membrane the most important part of a RO based unit. Broadly speaking, the reverse osmosis membrane is available in two flavors.

- Cellulose Triacetate Membrane (CTA): These membranes are extremely hydrophilic and are ideal for removing antibodies from the water. The problem with these membranes is that they are totally non-protein binding, so they remove proteins also from the water. Moreover, this membrane needs to be disinfected regularly so as to keep bacterial growth in control.

- FTC membranes: These membranes being inorganic in nature are not susceptible to bacterial growth. So they do not need disinfection. But they are more expensive as compared to the CTA ones. The problem with these membranes is that they are prone to be easily damaged by chlorine- a common contaminant in water.

These RO membranes are ultra thin and very sensitive. Thus are vulnerable to damage. But detecting the damaged membrane is a difficult task. If this goes undetected, the microscopic wastes will easily pass through the membrane and hence will not be separated out from the water.

One critical problem with this membrane is that the size of its pore is smaller than that of various naturally occurring minerals. This results into blocking of these minerals and so they are removed from the filtered water. This is known as de-mineralization.

Consuming such de-mineralized water is not recommended. The minerals which are removed by a reverse osmosis membrane are required for the basic functioning of the body. These minerals are calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron etc.

Drinking water is the best source to ensure daily intake of these minerals. Water lacking in these minerals can lead to deficiencies and other health problems.

Multi-stage water purifiers are superior to RO bases units. They are capable of removing all contaminants while retaining the essential minerals at the same time. They are easy to maintain and come in large variety of sizes and colors.

Now that you know about reverse osmosis membrane and how reverse osmosis work, I hope this information will help you in deciding a home water purifier for you. Whatever you select, make a choice soon. Drinking clean water is our body's most basic and important requirement.

How difficult is it to replace an EverPure water filter?

Previous occupant of my home installed an EverPure H-54 water filter to filter the water going to the water dispenser and ice maker of the refrigerator. I've seen these filters online for $55 or so. Is this something that I can easily replace by shutting off the water and using some simple wrenches and screwdrivers? Or should I get it professionally installed?

It's actually very simple to replace. This is a copy and paste from the Everpure website.

How do I remove “used” cartridges and install new ones?

Shut off water and relieve line pressure. For heads with built-in shut-off valve, fully lift handle until it stops.

Hold head firmly. Push upward on cartridge and turn it to left 1/4 turn, until rotation stops.

Pull cartridge out of head.

Align new cartridge lug with head label. Hold head firmly. Insert new cartridge into head.

Turn cartridge to right 1/4 turn until rotation stops.

Turn on water supply. For heads with built-in valve, lower handle.
Note: For head with revolving ring, make sure the valve handle locks firmly into the ring notch.

Flush cartridge by running water through filtered faucet for three minutes to flush cartridge and purge it of air.

Question about drinking pure water...?

I've heard health guru's say that you should drink a certain amount of PURE water each day, but I'm curious why plain water is any different than the water in something like tea? Ok, hear me out here:

I drink 8 oz. of pure water, or
I drink 10 oz. of tea (2 oz. of tea/honey content and 8 oz. of water.)

So in the scenario above, how is the 8 oz. of pure water any different than the 8 oz. of water from the tea? Sure, my kidneys need to filter the tea out of the water, but all the same, am I still not benefiting just the same from that 8 oz. of water? After kidney filtering, is the 8 oz. of water from the tea any different than the 8 oz. of pure water?

This might be an obvious answer, so go easy, ok? I'm just curious...

All the qualities of the "pure" water are still there when you add things to it, you are not taking anything away from it, just adding to it, those health nuts are saying that to scare people into thinking they can't add unhealthy things to it which doesn't seem to work so they figure if they stress the word "pure" they can take advantage of the average americans desire to stay healthy. I have been investigating these kind of things for over 10 years and have never found a proof that adding any teas, or even coffee take any of the healthy benefits away from the "pure" water. The way I see it is Live you life the way you want to, just eat healthy while you're doing it.

Countertop Water Filter

The homeowner with a clean and pure countertop water filter expects that filter to provide him or her with consistent and dependable removal of all water contaminants. A time-pressed homeowner might seek even more. He or she might choose to have a clean and pure filter that is also a maintenance free countertop water filter.

The maintenance free filter has a carbon granule filter. The owner of a maintenance free filter never needs to worry about changing a cartridge. That can seem like a real advantage. Yet like every benefit, it also comes with one seldom-mentioned downside.

Whenever a clean and pure countertop water filter is also a maintenance free countertop water filter, then the owner of that filter can not enjoy all the benefits that come from advancements in technology. Such a homeowner can not plan to replace his or her cartridge with one that has more F.D.A. approved materials or one with a better-graded pore structure.

The cartridge in a maintenance free filter does have a long life. That is why a number of homeowners have purchased the maintenance free, clean and pure water filter. Those homeowners who plan to make a similar purchase should know what to look for in a clean and pure countertop water filter.

Such a filter should have three important features. First, it should have the ability to carry-out mechanical filtration. Mechanical filtration takes advantage of Fickian diffusion. That diffusion process causes absorption of contaminants, whenever contaminated water passes over and moistens fibers.

A clean and pure filter should also have the ability to perform electrokinetic absorption. The unwanted particles in the water produce an electric field. A filter that can perform electrokinetic absorption makes use of that field. By using that field, the filter aids completion of the absorption process.

A good clean and pure filter should, of course, be equipped to function as the site of physical absorption. When water passes over solid absorbent, particles in the water should adhere to the surface of the absorbent. That is what should take place in a working clean and pure filter.

When the three features described above come together in a clean and pure countertop water filter, then that filter can rival the characteristics of other countertop filters. Those filters allow the homeowner to get clean, great-tasting water. Unlike clean and pure filters, those other filters have activated carbon filters with ion exchange and micron filtration.

When a homeowner does not feel compelled to get a maintenance free countertop water filter, then he or she can hope to bring into his or her home an example of our advancing technology. Then that homeowner can anticipate the chance to introduce into the filter system a cartridge with updated materials.

A homeowner can never know when some unseen particle in the tap water might be causing residents of the home to have unusually dry skin or unexplained GI problems. Introduction into the filter system of a new cartridge might bring an end to those complaints. That fact should stay in the mind of a homeowner who is about to get a clean and pure countertop water filter.

Any countertop water filter made today allows the homeowner to enjoy safe and good-tasting water. Still, the homeowner's safety is not at risk, when an old cartridge must be replaced by a newer and better cartridge.

Multipure Water Filter

In this article we take a look at the Nikken PiMag Aqua Pour Water Filter, and compare it with other similar commercially available countertop water filtration systems. Nikken is a Japanese network marketing, or MLM, company founded in 1975. One of their distinctive product line features is the Nikken magnets. These magnets are used in the water filtration process, as well as the many other wellness product lines provided by Nikken. We were interested in both the technology and how a network marketing product compared to others in the marketplace.

We discovered the Nikken PiMag Aqua Pour Gravity Water System listed on Amazon.com in both new and used condition. The Nikken website lists this product at $299.00 and includes a short video overview as well as information about dangers present in both tap water and bottled water. We certainly agree on these statements.

Other related Nikken water filter products include the Deluxe Countertop Water System, the Deluxe Under Counter System, Optimizer II, and Ultra Shower System. The company video claims that its magnetic technology doesn’t remove beneficial components during the filtration process as does reverse osmosis technology and other purification techniques.

Although having no personal experience with the Nikken water filters, rather we sought to discover the independent evaluations of others that have actually used them. To accomplish this, we analyzed customer ratings available on Amazon.com and other Internet websites.

In addition to the PiMag Aqua Pour, we compared consumer ratings and comments of two very similar products, albeit using unlike technology. First, we review the Nikken water filter product:

Nikken PiMag Aqua Pour Rating – 3.5 Star Rating – The reviews of this product were mixed.. One comment that is of concern is that the company will apparantly not publish independent lab test results (the Nikken website does have a statement that the PiMag water system "meets or exceeds the standards specified in ANSI/NSF 42 and 53").

New Berkley Water Filter System

Big Berkey Water Filter System – 4 Star Rating – All reviews are highly favorable. One comment included a reference to independent testing: The Black Berkey® filter formulation has been tested by State & EPA accredited laboratories to exceed EPA & ANSI/NSF (Std. 53) protocol, and included a link to see test results from the University of Arizona, Spectrum Labs and the LSU Department of Toxicology and Environmental Science.

Multipure Countertop Water Filter

Multipure CBVOCSC Countertop Water Filter – 4.5 Star Rating – All reviews extremely laudatory - Only concern mentioned was: “I wish the flexible pipe was a little longer, so I could position the filter further away from the sink.†According to product description: "Complete lab tests and California certifications are available at the company’s web site."

In summary, the Nikken PiMag Aqua Pour Water Filter and other Nikken magnetic-based technologies seem to be very popular. If the company would publish independent test results we could advocate this product without reservation. Competitive produt evaluations are somewhat better, although a small sample size is available.

You have a few choices. You can select any counter top or under counter water filter that features a 0.5 micron carbon block filter. These cysts generally range from about 4-10 microns in size and can be eliminated by these fine filters. Reverse osmosis will also remove these contaminants as an RO membrane's pores measure only about 0.005 microns. For more information visit the website which is given below it helps you alot
