We continue to hear about problems with substances found in water systems. #3 Reverse Osmosis - Exposed

This reason is more of an exposure of deception.
Reverse osmosis systems are promoted as the answer to pollution.  RO is beneficial for some applications ( removing mud, debris,etc.) but not for in home water purification purposes.  Here's why.

RO takes good minerals out of the water.  It de-mineralizes the water.  The body needs minerals that come naturally with water.  Mineral free water can eventually produce problems like indigestion.  RO can not remove pesticides or chlorine.  For that you need a filter that is carbon activated.

There are more reasons than just these three. To summarize just remember that removing lead and chlorine is crucial and not removing minerals is vital to your health.

A new concern today that some water filter systems have not addressed is chloramines, a by-product of 9/11 when authorities began calling for more chlorine in water supplies to counter bio-terrorism. This additive is fast becoming a super-toxin threat in our water. Created by the combination of chlorine and ammonia, this powerful compound being added to most municipal water supplies is not only a serious threat to our health, but if not filtered out using a reverse osmosis water filter system prior to reaching interior plumbing, could cause an unrivaled corrosive capacity that homeowners have not had to contend with before.

High chlorine levels after 9/11 manifested in residents complaining of irritated skin, hair, and lungs. Investigations unearthed bacteria forming bioshields in piping and resisting chlorine’s purification power, and brought out the fact that chlorine in water produces carcinogenic trihalomethanes (THMs). The only answer seemed to be combining chlorine and ammonia, creating chloramines. This allowed the use of much less chlorine and lowered the levels of THMs while still provided plenty of muscle against bacteria and bioterrorism threats.

Now don’t get me wrong, any filter is better than none at all but the ever popular and top selling Brita water filters have many limitations, even potentially jeopardizing your long term health.

1. Size Is Important
