By the time you finish reading this, you'll have the answer to the question "what can I add to my tap water to make it taste better?". The solution will not only make your water taste great but will make it very healthy to drink.

Most of the public water tastes terrible because of the thousands of chemicals that have made their way into our water sources. Plus, water facilities add strong chemicals in an attempt to treat the water. These really make the water taste and smell terrible. Chlorine is the number one reason why people ask the question what can I add to my tap water to make it taste better.

Chemicals found in public water is shocking. Benzene, pesticides, pharmaceutical drugs, and many more deadly chemicals are in the tap water you are drinking and showering in. Not only do these toxic contaminants make your water taste bad, they can make you very sick.

Removing chlorine will have the most dramatic affect on the taste of your water. It's the most dominant chemicals in tap water. Plus, chlorine has been proven to dramatically increase the risk of getting cancer. Everyone should be removing this from the water in their homes.

Some people have given up on their tap water and now purchase bottled water. This is not the right way to go. First, it's expensive. More importantly, the plastic containers that water is bottled in give off chemicals. These chemicals end up in the water. Some chemicals like BPA have been proven to increase the risk of getting cancer. Plus, these chemicals can cause the water to have a bad taste.

Some people will add lemon or a sweetener in an attempt to cover up the taste. There is a far better way to get pure, great tasting water than adding things to it.

The way to do this is to install a carbon filtration system. They are simple to install and not overly expensive. The right type of purification system will remove all of the nasty chemicals in your water that make it taste so bad.

Water purification systems that use a multi stage carbon filter have a few key components. It consists of a carbon filter bock, micro filter, and an ion exchange. They all work together to provide the purest water you can get anywhere.

So, some food for thought. Your goal? To get yourself a carbon filter system so you will no longer need to ask the question what can I add to my tap water to make it taste better.

Mark LeBreton is an advocate for safe, clean and healthy filtered water. Find out what he recommends as the only water filtration system to use in your home at http://clear-drinking-water.com.

Water that is considered to be drinking water is of high quality and does not pose imminent health risks to the user once they use it. It is estimated that 60 or 70 percent of the human body is water; therefore most body parts contain water. Drinking water is required by the human body for various functions such as the regulation of the body's temperature and it is the means through which nutrients are transported to all other human organs.

There are many regions in the world that do not have access to clean water. The water is not clean because it has disease vectors. When this kind of water is consumed, it can lead to chronic illnesses. This is the reason why you should have water distribution systems that have water purification technology. Water purification simply means getting rid of the contaminants that are found in raw water.

The physical process of purifying drinking water may be used and this entails using either water filtration or water sedimentation processes. It may also be purified using biological processes like the slow sand filters or the activated sludge. Flocculation and chlorination are the chemical processes that are used to filter water. Electromagnetic radiation is filtering water through the use of ultra violet light.

The purification of drinking water reduces concentration of parasites, bacteria, viruses, algae, suspended particles and other matters that may have come into contact with the water as it falls into the rain. Basically, the quality of drinking water is usually set by the specific government of that area or by the international standards.

Water can be found from various sources including ground sources, precipitation like rain and snow and surface water. Technology has improved the methods used to purify water and many advanced water machines have been introduced. Some of these machines include water vending dispensers; water vending units and reverse osmosis water vending machines.

Improved water drinking sources have been but in place and they include: household water connection, boreholes conditions, public standpipe, protected spring and rain water. In coming up with safe water sources there also has to be the access of good sanitation facilities such as the connection to public sewers and septic systems. Sources from which water can be found include: ground sources (ground water), precipitation (rain, snow), surface water etc. With advancement in technology, purification methods have also advanced for the better with introduction of water machines ranging from products such as water vending dispensers, water vending units and reverse osmosis water vending machines. Lack of water is among the major problems in developing countries. But thanks to the Water aid program, that has helped provide water has seen improvement of hygiene to the people living in areas where by safe drinking water was a problem.

Whole house water filters are the ideal mode of water purification. They are designed and engineered in such a way so as to meet the higher water flow rates encountered on a home's main water incoming line.

Along with basic functions such as removing sediments, dirt and rust particle removal, whole house filters also offer various other specialized functions such as removal of chlorine, lead, iron, other heavy metals, VOC's, chloramines, hydrogen sulfide, and other dissolved contaminants mainly responsible for bad taste and smell in residential water supply.

These whole house water filters have extraordinary functionalities to completely sterilize residential water to remove viruses and bacteria.

With the installation of water filters, clean, filtered and hygienic water flows form every source of water supply in the house. Chlorine and other chemical components are removed from water as soon as it enters the home's plumbing system.

The use of whole house water filters improves and enhances the overall healthfulness of the drinking water in your home. Once the chlorine and other chemicals are removed, they are no longer embedded in clothing from washing, and you are no longer taking showers in it.

Whole house water filters operates at very low temperatures to filter water so as to enhance and facilitate the easier removal of chlorine and other contaminants. Hence it is the most effective way to have filtered water.

Risks of skin related diseases are also eliminated by showering and washing in whole house water filtered water unlike contaminated water. Whole house water filters are also called water purifiers as they make water cleaner, clearer, and safer for the whole house.

The water conditioner or softener converts the incoming water "hardness", consisting primarily of chlorine, magnesium, sodium or potassium and calcium salts; reducing scratches and scaling of dishes, into the entire home water supply system.

By doing a bit of research, you can easily find excellent water purifiers for a very affordable price.

What are some good reverse osmosis h2o filter options for a residential water line?

My husband would prefer NOT to have a separate faucet line for filtered water, so we would need an in-line drinking water filter for our kitchen sink. He would also prefer NOT to have to depend on a plumber to install it.

99% of residential water lines do not need R.O. systems they are made for homes with wells for filtering small amounts of nitrates out of the water.99% of residental water is already filtered.

Water Filter Installation

Following on from previous articles I would like to explain water filters and magnetic water conditioners. It is useful to know how each of these work and the advantages and disadvantages of each to make an informed decision if you were to purchase one.

Water Filters

Water filters are not only good for helping to soften water, but are also useful to remove unwanted contaminants and ensure that your drinking water is clean of any suspended particles. It should be noted that these days water quality from treatment works is usually of very high quality and unlikely to need further treatment. However, if you require even higher purity water then a water filter can be a good choice...and some people say it tastes slightly better as well! There are several different types, and each will be explained below:

• Granulated, activated carbon water filters - The the simplest type of filter are portable filters that are found in jugs. They remove chlorine, large particles and parasites. They are easily purchased from most department stores and are great if you have a low budget as they are reasonably cheap. A disadvantage is that they have a short filter life and are unable filter out certain bacteria and chemicals.

• Carbon block, activated carbon water filters - Built-in to the water supply in your home, the disadvantage of these filters is that they are more expensive than granulated types as described above. However, they do not need to be replaced as often and generally give better filtration.

• Reverse osmosis water filters - For the best form of water filtration available these are hard to beat. They work by passing the water through a semi-permeable membrane, which filters out almost every contaminant. Although they are more expensive than other types of filters they have reasonably low running costs. Once installed they can be used to filter water to the whole house.

• Combination Systems - This filter has become available in recent years and are seen as an alternative to reverse osmosis systems. They have a number of different filters, and each filtration process removes different contaminants.

• Ceramic carbon water filters - To filter out a broad range of contaminants from the water supply these are effective as the filter is comprised of a ceramic and a carbon part. Some are infused with silver, as this is a good antibiotic and reduces the number of micro-organisms present. These filters are good value for money and are built-in to the home water supply and in a typical house they require replacing about every 12 months.

• Alkaline Water Machines - It is a good system for those with environmental illnesses where there is too much acid in the body as this system not only filters your drinking water but it makes it more alkaline. It has effective filtration but it can be expensive and it wastes a lot of water during the filtration process.

Magnetic Water Conditioners

Electromagnetic water conditioners are a relatively new invention. They work by passing water through a magnetic field, the calcium and magnesium ions are altered in such a way that they loose their ability to cause scale. This has a number of benefits and although the water is not technically soft, it has the useful properties of soft water. This means that it won't cause hard water deposits and will increase heating efficiency as well as lengthening the lifespan of any clothes washed in the conditioned water.

As calcium is an important dietary element, the fact that conditioned water still retains its calcium content is an added benefit.

Home Water Filter: A Must Have For Every Residence

You arrive home after a hard day at work. You're hot, you're tired, and you're thirsty. First things first: you grab a glass from the cupboard, turn on the tap and feel the glass change temperature as the cold liquid fills the glass. You put the glass to your lips and gulp the cold poison down.

Yes, you read that correctly: poison. It won't kill you in a day or a week or even a month, but water that does not come from a home water filter is increasingly becoming toxic to our bodies. That's because the fragile ecosystem isn't a closed loop and the poison we put into the air and earth end up in our water. What's more, many municipalities add chemicals to the water to make it safe to drink but which, in the long run, can contribute to diseases such as osteoporosis or even cancer.

A home water filter is your best solution

If you own a house, water filter systems should be present. If not, make it a priority investment. A home water filter system, when correctly installed and consistently maintained, can deliver clean and healthy water from your taps to your glass and ultimately to your body. You'll enjoy healthier living now and in the future. Home water filter systems are available in a variety of applications.

Among the most common is the pitcher-style house water filter where you pour water into the top of the pitcher and wait while clean, fresh, filtered H20 enters the container. While this is the most common and a great start, it only filters water you manually pour into the top.

Another popular style is the faucet home water filter model, which is affixed to your taps and filters all water as it comes out. This is an extremely popular model and ensures that the water you drink and cook with is filtered.

But the kitchen isn't the only place where you want pure water in your house. Water filter systems are available for the bathroom, as well where brushing your teeth or using the shower could expose you to unfiltered water.

Water seems like one of earth's unlimited resources. There is so much of it; it seems to be replenished with every rainfall, and the oceans are vast. But among the earth's waters there is only a limited amount that is actually drinkable and that amount is quickly diminishing as humankind poisons itself. A home water filter is an investment that can help to prolong your own health and return cleaner water to the environment.

Well Water Filter

A lot of people are getting more and more concerned about the quality of their drinking water. And according to published reports they have very good reason to be concerned. It has been estimated that almost 7 million Americans get sick each year from drinking contaminated tap water. And on top of that, many studies that have been done recently indicate that most bottled water is no better for you than what you may get from your home tap. What that essentially means is that you are paying much more for the same quality of water then.

So water filtration systems have become very popular with many homeowners as a means of improving their home. There are several kinds of filtration systems in use today, and we will try to help you get familiar with the most important ones.

1. The cheapest to purchase, easiest to use, and most portable are water pitchers designed specifically for the purpose of filtering water. The advantage of these water pitchers is their simplicity itself. All you have to do is fill the picture up with tap water and then let it filter out the impurities. The biggest disadvantage to using water pitcher filters is the time that it takes for the water to be filtered. Very often they take 15 minutes or more just to filter a half-gallon of water. So obviously, if you often need water right away this may not be your best solution.

2. The next step up in the water filter chain are faucet mounted water filters. These are often seen advertised on television and in magazines. As the name indicates, they connect to the end of your water faucet, and have a lever so that you can either choose straight tap water, or to send the tap water through your filter instead. These are also very inexpensive types of filters, and very easy to install. They filter water much more quickly than water pitcher filters, but the filter cartridges have to be changed on a regular basis, perhaps every month or so.

3. Undersink water filters have the advantage of providing some of the best overall water filtration possible, and also are stored out of sight. They also work much faster then either water pitcher filters or faucet mounted filters. However, the biggest drawback to them is that in many cases professional installation is a good idea. Some homeowners that are very handy may attempt to tackle the installation of an undersink water filter, but for the average person it may be too much of a job. Cartridges are also used as the filter material for these units, but they only have to be replaced about every six months or so.

4. Whole house water filters are able to provide filtered water to every faucet in your home easily and quickly, which many see as a clear advantage. However, they can be even more involved to install than undersink units, and so most often you will need the services of a plumber to get it set up. The filters in these units also last about six months or so.

5. Reverse osmosis water filters were very popular in the past, but are not nearly as popular today due to the increasing effectiveness of some of the less expensive and easier to install water filtration systems. Perhaps the biggest drawback about reverse osmosis filters is that they waste almost 5 gal. of water for every gallon that they purify. On the plus side though, they are one of the best water filtration systems available, capable of filtering out even some of the smallest and most obscure pollutants.

As you can see, there are several choices to be made when you're considering home water filter systems, and hopefully the information provided above will help you make a more informed choice of the water filtration system that will work best for you.

Should I let muddy well water run through my whole-house water filters, or wait until the well fills up higher?

My house uses well water, and when it rains the well fills with dirt, and the water stops running in the house. So I turned the water off, but when I turn it back on, the clear cylindrical case housing the filters fills with muddy water. If I wait, will the well fill higher and dissipate the mud, or can I turn it on now? I want water!

If your getting dirt into your well then you have a serious problem with it. Yes it will clog up the filters, but more importantly you could get sick from that water. Sounds like you need to have some well repairs done. In my 21 years of where I'm living my well water has always been crystal clear, I don't even need filters.
