According to several water purifier reviews we've conducted, there are many different systems out there that do not live up to their hype. While just about any type of filtration system will remove some unwanted elements from your drinking supply, some will definitely do the job more efficiently and more effectively than others.

One water purifier review focused on distillation and reverse osmosis systems. Distilling is an old process of heating H20 into a steam, which boils away impurities, then converting the steam back to liquid. Unfortunately, some chemicals and diseases are not removed and end up in the drinking supply. Reverse osmosis forces H20 through a fine membrane: the problem is that many chemicals are molecularly smaller than water, therefore are not strained out. Both systems are also slow-yield, hard to maintain, and expensive. Additionally, they both remove important minerals such as potassium and calcium.

Other water purifier reviews focused on the most popular filtration medium: carbon. Most of the best H20 treatment systems employ activated carbon. It works through the process known as adsorption where liquids and dissolved solids adhere to the surface of a solid medium (carbon).

Yet, a water purifier review discovered that not all carbon-based treatment products are alike. If a product contains low levels of activated carbon or the carbon is not exposed to H20 very long, some contaminated elements can end up in the drinking supply. Also, these types of filters are most effective when they are first being used. Over time, the filter will become clogged, and its filtration abilities will lessen. Additionally, bacteria can grow in carbon, we discovered during another one of our water purifier reviews, so using a carbon filter too long and you can actually be adding contaminants to your glass.

Overall, carbon filters remain the best mechanisms for treating your drinking supply. This makes safe, pure drinking liquid, but there are additional ways you can ensure that what you are drinking is as beneficial as it can be to you. One water purifier review found that some systems work an ion exchange, replacing lead ions with the beneficial mineral potassium. Other studies discovered that an ionizing water filter produces alkaline H20 which is full of oxygen and extra electrons for fighting free radicals and acidic H20 which is excellent for external cleansing.

In all of our water purifier reviews, we found overwhelmingly that carbon-based filters worked best in conjunction with other steps that removed everything that should not be in your glass and added all the things that should be there to improve your health.

Don't buy water filters for shower heads until you know the facts. We all need shower filters for copper and chlorine, but there are some products on the market that are a real waste of money.

I don't mean to sound cheap. But, why pay more, when you can get something effective for a fraction of the cost? We're on a budget. So, I always shop around, comparing quality and performance. If I have to pay more to get better quality, then I will. But, when I began to compare water filters for shower heads, I realize that some of these companies are trying to rips us off.

"Wellness", for example, is the most expensive brand on the market. They make unsubstantiated claims about the performance of their products. They have not had their products evaluated by independent laboratories, the California Health Department of other regulating agencies.

On the flip side of the coin, there are water filters for shower heads that do not remove copper or lead. They do not reduce hazardous chemicals that become airborne in the shower. Yet, they cost more than the most effective systems on the market.

When it comes to shower filters for copper and chlorine, there are only three products on the market with effective chemical reduction. The prices range from $67.99 to $249.00 for the Wellness brand.

Companies like "Paragon" and "Shower-wise" do not provide effective chemical removal, but there prices are about the same as the more effective shower filters for copper and chlorine. I've already mentioned that Wellness is a waste of money.

But, a $70 system that does not remove chlorine byproducts or metallic traces is also a waste of money. The Paragon and Shower-wise systems only reduce chlorine by 50% and do nothing to reduce chlorination byproducts. Those byproducts have been shown to increase your cancer-risk. The threat in the shower is believed to be greater than the threat in the kitchen. In other words, inhaling the fumes and allowing the chemical to soak into your skin is worse than consuming them in a glass of water.

So, you need shower filters for copper and chlorine that also remove THMs. The most effective systems remove more than 90% of those chemicals and about 70% of the lead and copper.

If you're tall, you might want to rule out water filters for shower heads that reduce the shower head height. If you like an invigorating massage, you need to look for one with a flow-rate around 2.5 GPM.

If you have kids or if you like a tub-bath, you want to look for shower filters for copper and chlorine that have a removable wand. That way you can fill up the tub, too.

Once you find the right system, you will never go back to showering in chlorinated water. It's almost like showering in spring-water. It feels that good. Hopefully, the information here will help you find the right water filters for shower heads and save some money, too.

Stop paragon water filter connection from spraying and leaking where it screws into the faucet?

I bought a paragon 10,000 gallon water filter from Sears for $60.00 and the part that screws into the faucet sprays water. The unit came with 3 different rubber washers, and I tried each of them, and it still sprays water. This particular water filter screws into the faucet, and the water base sits on the countertop, and is good for a whopping 10,000 gallons which is cool, but I can't seem to stop the darn water from spraying out where it screws the water diverter into the faucet! I am hoping that someone out there who has had a similar problem knows how to fix it, or is a plumber or understands how to correct this problem. Thanks and I look forward to reading your answers. i would use Teflon tape , rap it twice , o n the thread,
then apply the washer , make sure you screw it slowly ,and straight
