Discount Water Filters

You probably already know that the best faucet water filter is not the most heavily advertised. However, it’s not the cheapest, nor the most expensive either So how do you decide? It takes a little effort to find a truly effective faucet filter that will protect you and your family from the hazardous contaminants and pollutants that are present in our surface and groundwater. But, if you are concerned about your family’s present and future health, it is well worth the time and effort.

The best faucet water filter on the market can be purchased for less than a hundred US dollars. Sales reps will try to tell you that their $800 units are better, but we always have to be skeptical of what salesmen have to say.

On the other end of the spectrum is the $39.95 Brita faucet filter. It is produced by the Clorox Bleach Company, so I’m sure they know how to remove the bleach, which is what chlorine actually is, from our water. But, does the company know how to remove other things? Or do they care about them?

Brita is not the best faucet water filter because it will not remove the byproducts created by chemical disinfection. Freon, chloroform, bromoform, iodoform and other trihalomethanes are produced when chorine, chloramines, bromine and other chemicals are used to kill bacteria and algae in public water sources. They cause cancer.

Trihalomethanes are relatively easy to remove, but Brita does not use the available technology. In order to remove disinfection byproducts, we need a faucet filter that includes an adsorptive block composed of activated carbon and other materials that target individual trihalomethanes.

But, what about an $800 faucet filter? Is it really worth the price?

That is actually an under the counter product made by the Ever-Pure Company. It contains enough steps to remove trihalomethanes and chlorine, but the cost is related to the inclusion of a reverse osmosis stage that is unnecessary and difficult to maintain.

Basically, you have to take the system apart, every so often and rinse it out. Wouldn’t you rather have something that you can attach and forget for months at a time? I know that I would.

The best faucet water filter on the market includes a submicron particle filter, which is similar to reverse osmosis, but requires less maintenance. Every three months or so, depending on your usage, you simply remove the filtration cartridge, throw it away and install a new one.

If you worry about remembering when it’s time to reorder, there is one company that will send your replacement cartridges to you, when it’s time for a change. They offer discounts and package deals when you buy a showerhead system at the same time.

You inhale trihalomethanes like chloroform every time that you shower in unfiltered water. The EPA says that most homes have a measurable level of chloroform gas, due to showering.

So, why not combine the purchase of the best faucet water filter with a new showerhead system and save money on both? If you do, you’ll have better skin today and better overall health, tomorrow.

Bottled Water vs. Brita Filters? Which one Saves more money?

I used to buy those 24-packs of Bottled Water for like $10 per box. I'd go through 3-4 bottles a day.

My friend suggested I buy a Brita or Pur tank and just filter it using tap water. He said it'll save money in the long run. But the filters have to replaced every 2 months, and they cost about $5-10 per replacement.

Which way do you use? Which one saves the most money? (And by Brita, I DONT mean the faucet extension - I'm talking about the pitcher)
btw, I live in NYC right now and lived in Miami for the last 10 years!

I just bought a water cooler from brandsmart. When I added up all the Zepphylrhills Water I was buying, I could not believe it.......they say to buy a Brita if you can't drink the water from the sink, here in Miami we can't. I used to live in N.Y., the water was great, now I have to buy it,

Kitchen Faucet Filter - Why Do You Need One?

Need a kitchen faucet filter? A kitchen faucet with filter is vital.   Not every kitchen faucet with filter really does a good job. We all know about the health hazards that are present in tap-water and we are well aware that the taste is disgusting.

The following will inform you as to why you need a good water filter and how to choose one that makes your water safe and clean.

The most popular and heavily advertised brands are some of the worst ones.  Brita and PUR, for example, are available every where and they have major advertising budgets.  It’s too bad that they didn’t spend more of their budgets on advanced technology and less on advertising.

Neither the Brita nor the PUR kitchen faucet filter will remove THMs, MTBE and VOCs.  PUR will not remove alachlor, benzene or TCE.  Let me tell you about those nasty compounds. (For more information on these contaminants click link in the resource box.)

THMs

THMs or trihalomethanes are released whenever chlorine or chloramines are used to disinfect or kill bacteria and algae.  They become airborne when a faucet is turned on, water is boiled or the shower is run.  They are also present around indoor pools.

In order for a kitchen faucet with filter to remove THMs, they must include an “adsorptive” step.  What’s the risk of consumption?  Exposure to THM, either by drinking, inhaling or absorbing through the skin, increases a person’s risk of bladder and colorectal cancer.

The risk increases as the number of different exposures increase.  In other words, people who swim in, shower in and drink chlorinated waters have the greatest risk.  To reduce that risk you want a kitchen faucet with filter and a showerhead system.

MTBE

This compound is only present in some areas, but if there’s a gasoline station near your home, you could be one of the unlucky ones.  The risk of consumption is largely unknown, but it ruins the taste and odor of what you are drinking.

In order for a kitchen faucet filter to remove it, the system must include media that targets this specific contaminant.

VOCs

A kitchen faucet with filter that removes THMs will also remove VOCs.  There are hundreds of different VOCs.  Each one carries its own health risks.  One, perchlorate, disrupts the normal function of the thyroid gland, causing a variety of health problems in the young and old.

Alachlor, Benzene & TCE

The Brita kitchen faucet filter is better at contaminant removal than PUR, since it does remove alachlor, benzene and TCE.  I grouped the three together, because they are all known carcinogens and they are all known to pollute groundwater.

The best kitchen faucet with filter will remove all of these contaminants.  It may cost a little more than PUR or Brita.  But, those two systems actually cost more to use.  Their replacement filters have a short life span.  Brita has a tendency to break and leak.

The cost per gallon is over 20 cents.  The best kitchen faucet filter costs less than a dime per gallon to use, since their replacement cartridges last longer.  In my research, I looked for and found a selective water filtration multi-stage device.  This unique water filter device is, according to my research., the very best kitchen faucet filter on the market.  That gives me peace of mind that my family has clean, safe water.
